This is an abstract painting on high quality linen and custom made canvas. The style is defined by sculptural use of paint. It is 3-D, built-up mixture of many layers of thick gesso, paint, sand and other materials. I'm currently creating a new series of paintings about TRAPPIST-1 system. This one was inspired by the surface of the TRAPPIST-1f. It is an exoplanet, likely rocky but under a massive water-steam gaseous envelope at very high pressure and temperature, orbiting within the habitable zone around the ultracool dwarf star TRAPPIST-1 39 light-years away from Earth in the constellation of Aquarius. Finished with a glaze of satin varnish to protect against sunlight and dust damage. This artwork is signed and dated on the back.
